PT Bumi Mekar Hijau Invites Residents to Use 1,508 Ha of Unproductive Land

One of the industrial forest plantation companies in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, PT Bumi Mekar Hijau invites local residents to take advantage of an unproductive land of 1,508 hectares which often burns during the dry season.
Head of the Sungai Gebang-Menang District of PT BMH Alfredo P Pane in Kayuagung, Friday, said the use of this unproductive land is one of the steps to prevent forest and land fires (karhutla). Based on data from the South Sumatra Provincial Government, it is known that most forest and land fires occur on unmanaged or unmanaged land. On this basis, PT Bumi Mekar Hijau (BMH) as Sinar Mas' Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) supplier partner in the Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Region invites the people of Gajah Mati Village, Sungai Menang District, OKI Regency to manage the unproductive land in 2021. PT BMH provides an understanding to the community that the area that has been claimed to belong to the community is a PT BMH concession. For this reason, the company invites villagers to work together to manage it in a forestry partnership scheme. This forestry partnership scheme empowers communities in and around forests, by providing access for communities to manage land in forest areas that have been encumbered with rights or in Forest Management Unit (KPH) areas.
