In the last 5 years, the Ministry of Agriculture has only replanted 142.886 hectares of oil palm plantations
The Directorate General of Plantations of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) has just issued a technical recommendation for a community oil palm rejuvenation program covering an area of 265,893 hectares during the period 2016 to the end of 2021.
The issuance of this recommendation is relatively small when compared to the target for oil palm replanting which is set at 745,780 hectares over the last six years. As for the technical recommendations produced, the realization of new palm tree plantings has only reached 142,886 hectares or 58.2 percent. Plt. The Director General of Plantations at the Ministry of Agriculture, Ali Jamil, said that the low achievement in issuing technical recommendations and rejuvenating smallholder plantations was due to the high price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) during the commodity cycle in recent times. Meanwhile, the price of FFB for the period of December 29, 2021 to January 4, 2022 in Riau is IDR 3,148.11 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of oil palm FFB in Aceh was recorded at around Rp. 2,780 per kilogram.
