Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi targets cooking oil that follows the government's reference price to be available
Based on the HET regulation for cooking oil, three types of cooking oil prices are set, namely IDR 11,500 per liter for bulk cooking oil, IDR 13,500 per liter for simple packaged cooking oil, and IDR 14,000 per liter for premium packaged cooking oil. "When the cooking oil market with the new HET price exists, the pressure to buy at modern retail will decrease, supply will be normal, and all types of cooking oil will follow existing regulations," he said yesterday. Currently, traders are mixing cooking oil that has been bought at high prices and cheap cooking oil. As a follow-up, the Ministry of Trade will also review cooking oil factories to ensure the availability of supplies to distribution to traditional markets and modern retail. The success of this policy, he said, really depends on the cooperation of all parties involved in the industry, from crude palm oil (CPO) owners, cooking oil factories, to distributors. The Director General of Domestic Trade, Oke Nurwan, hopes that this policy can run effectively and maintain the flow of domestic cooking oil availability. As of last Wednesday, the supply of cooking oil to modern retailers has reached 4.6 million liters. This figure is higher than some time ago which only reached 400 thousand liters. "This means that they have been hunting and trying to fulfill their DMO and DPO obligations, although until now there has not been a single exporter who has actually fulfilled them," said Oke.
