Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Prioritize Road Projects in Special Areas
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has accelerated the completion of a number of roads supporting special areas by the end of this year.
Director of Road Development of the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works, Herry Vaza, said the road being built was an assignment project since last year. "Not for all areas, only in certain places that must be prepared faster in order to sell," said Herry yesterday. Land access in special economic zones, industrial areas, and strategic national tourism areas is usually managed by area managers and programmed by the Ministry of Industry. However, the Ministry of Public Works can be involved if the government has a specific target, such as in the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KIT), Central Java. "There are two boulevard project packages that will be completed this June following the other two packages later," said Herry. Herry added that a similar road project is in priority tourism areas as a special assignment to help developers. He gave an example of the construction of a 17-kilometer road in Mandalika, which is valued at around Rp 700 billion. The project is planned to be completed in September 2021. Minister of Public Works Basoeki Hadimoeljono ensured that the government will continue to develop a road network that links infrastructure around economic centers. In particular, the road project carried out by the Ministry of Public Works connects toll roads, ports, airports, and even trains to industrial areas.
